Chained Manifest Configuration

During device development, more entities/organizations would work together to build the software for that device. For example, Company A might build the software that consumes the brands Company B produces, and so on.

KOS promotes collaboration, and in this scenario, we could use traditional sections, in which we refer to an exact version of the artifact that CompanyB publishes from Market Place and use the release created this way to install to the device. But in this approach, there can be a gap because Company B might be following a separate schedule from Company A, and every time the referenced artifact is updated, Company A needs to create a new release and go through the whole process of verifying the release again to accommodate Company B.

KOS provides a solution to this problem through chained sections. In the chained sections, you provide information about what section other entities would be providing, and KOS will stack the chained section over the existing sections, allowing different entities to add to the release without updating the original release.
