Connection Manager

Connection manager screen or connections serve essential functions in KOS studio. It allows you to see your running images or make connections to KOS devices and allows you to initiate tools for those running images.

Every image run is displayed as an instance on Connections Screens. Here, you can see the current status of the run, stop a running image, or restart a stopped connection. It also allows you to run a variety of different tools for each image that the studio has to offer to accelerate your embedded device development. Another critical feature that the connections manager provides is that it allows you to connect to a KOS devices on your network and run the same tools you would run if the image were playing from KOS Studio.

Connection Manager Tools

Connection manager allows users to start specific tools for their running image on a simulator or device or a KOS device connected via an IP address. Each tool allows users to perform a particular task, which will help them accelerate the development using KOS studio. Currently, connection manager tools that the studio offers are:

  1. Config viewer: The Configuration viewer allows the user to view the current settings for the device image and update them in real time.
  2. API browser: The API browser allows users to look at the active API on the device or simulator in real time.
  3. Terminal: The terminal allows the user to access the simulator or device via SSH and performs natively as an SSH terminal.
  4. Beverage graph viewer: The beverage graph viewer allows users to quickly glance at the beverage graphs and notes within that graph to debug the unavailability of beverage pumps, etc.
  5. Future tracer: The Future tracer allows users to track and debug the futures and the child futures.
  6. Web socket viewer: The websocket viewer allows you to sniff websocket communications between various services for your device.
  7. Manifest viewer: Manifest viewer lets you see the currently active manifest on your device, allowing you to debug and troubleshoot the installed software version.
  8. Ingredient assignment: The ingredient assignment tool allows you to assign ingredients from your brand set to the holders associated with your device image.

View running images

Every image run from my images shows up on connections, displaying the current status of the image.

  1. Login to the KOS studio.
  2. Once logged in to KOS studio, my images and connection manager windows are displayed.
  3. Select the image to run from your My Images; select the target that you want to run the image on. The target can be a simulator or an IP address of a physical device.
  4. Run the image using the run icon.
  5. The Connection Manager displays the current status for the image run.
  6. Consider the following:
    • Each running instance of the image is displayed separately based on the target of the image running.
    • Status indicates the image’s current status, such as downloading artifacts, errors, and connected status.
    • Any active tools associated with the image run instance are listed here.
    • Users can start a new tool or view data on existing tools only if the image status is connected.

View installing images

Every image installed from my images shows up on connections, displaying the current status of the image.

  1. Login to the KOS studio.
  2. Once logged in to KOS studio, my images and connection manager windows are displayed.
  3. Select the image to install from your My Images; select the target as the IP address of the physical device on which you want to install the image.
  4. Click more options and select toggle install. On my images, click Install to start the image installation for the target.
  5. The connection manager displays the current status of the image installation.
  6. Consider the following:
    • Each instance of the image installation is displayed separately based on the installation target of the image.
    • Status indicates the image’s current status, such as downloading artifacts, errors, and installed status.
    • After image installation, KOS studio disconnects during a reboot of the device.
    • As there is no active connection at the end of the installation, the user cannot start any tools from the installation instance on the connection manager. Users can connect to the install device via an IP address to start any desired tools.

    • Few tools allow users to view the old data when the connection is active.
    • Stopping the running image will disconnect the connection to the target.

Restart the stopped image

  1. Login to the KOS studio.
  2. Once logged in to KOS studio, my images and connection manager windows are displayed.
  3. Select the stopped image you want to rerun on the connection manager window.
