KOS Studio v1.9

OS Studio Release Notes are official documents published with each new version of the KOS Studio. They provide a clear summary of all changes delivered in a specific release.

Release Notes are essential for anyone working with the KOS ecosystem—developers, integrators, partners, and business stakeholders—because they help users quickly understand:

  • New Features: Highlights of new capabilities or tools added to the platform.
  • Enhancements: Enhancements to existing features, performance optimizations, or user experience updates.
  • Resolved Issues: Issues resolved from previous versions, helping teams track reliability improvements.
  • Breaking Changes: Changes that may affect backward compatibility or require adjustments to existing projects.
  • Known Issues: Current limitations or defects that users should be aware of, often with workarounds or planned fixes.

For developers and technical teams, KOS Studio Release Notes are an essential guide for planning upgrades, testing new features, and ensuring ongoing compatibility in projects built on the KOS smart dispense operating system.

KOS Studio – v1.9.1

Dec 31,2025

We are excited to announce KOS Studio v1.9.1 update, this update introduces Release Template Management and Release Management Features.

New Features

  • Release Template Management – A tool in KOS Studio that allows administrators to define the collection of images that make up a manufacturing release. Unlike over-the-air, or usb updates, manufacturing releases typically consist of multiple images, including an end-of-line image for testing the device during manufacturing, a production image to run once shipped, and a recovery image. A release template allows the user to place these images into the boot queue and install them onto a device in a single operation during the manufacturing process.
  • Release Management – A tool in KOS Studio that allows users to create manufacturing release from a release template. While the template defines which images make up the release and where they are placed in the boot queue, the release manager tool allows users to build versioned release candidates from a template. Users first create a new release version for a template and then create a release candidate. The release candidate will include the latest build of each image defined in the template, and results in a single disk image that can be installed onto a device in manufacturing. As testing proceeds on the release candidate, individual images in a release candidate can be marked verified which makes them immutable for future release candidates. Once all images in the release candidate have been verified, the final disk image can be released to manufacturing. Releases are immutable and can be regenerated at any time in the future, even if the underlying kabs are removed from the market or local artifact stores. This also ensures that any previously release can be recreated and installed in the future for testing purposes.
