Overview
The Window Manager is a centralized tool in KOS Studio that provides a comprehensive view of all open windows across your displays. Whether you’re working with multiple images, tools, or utilities, the Window Manager helps you quickly locate, organize, and control your workspace without the need to tab through individual windows.
Accessing Window Manager
To open the Window Manager:
- Click on the Tools menu in the main KOS Studio toolbar
- Select Window Manager from the menu
A new window titled “Window Manager” will appear with a default size of 900×500 pixels. You can resize this window as needed to fit your workflow.
Understanding the Interface
The Window Manager interface is divided into two main areas:
Left Panel – Window List
The left panel displays all active KOS Studio windows in an organized, hierarchical list format. Each window entry shows:
- The tool icon for quick visual identification
- The window title
- Action buttons (for applicable windows)
Main Content Area – Visual Layout
The right side of the Window Manager shows a scaled-down visual representation of your actual display setup. You’ll see:
- Grey boxes representing your physical monitors
- Smaller boxes representing each open window, positioned according to their actual location on your displays
- Window icons for easy identification
Window Organization
Windows in the Window Manager are automatically organized into logical groups:
KOS Studio Windows Group
This group always appears at the top and contains:
- KOS Studio (main window) – always listed first
- Connections – always listed second
- Other Studio windows – sorted alphabetically
Running Image Groups
When you have images running with tools opened from the Connection Manager:
- Each running image appears as its own group
- Image groups are sorted alphabetically below the KOS Studio Windows group
- Tools within each image group are sorted alphabetically
- Sub-windows (like API Browser) appear below their parent windows with indentation

FAQs
Yes, you can easily close active windows directly from the Windows Manager without having to find them down on your desktop. To do this, open the Windows Manager (Tools → Windows Management), locate the target window in the list on the left sidebar, click the three dots next to its name, and select Close.
Please note that while you can close out secondary windows and connection tools the primary KOS Studio application window and the core Connections window cannot be closed from this tool.
When you are running multiple images simultaneously, tracking their individual connection tools can become confusing. You can easily view these windows using the Windows Manager tool on KOS Studio (Tools → Windows Management).
Inside the manager’s left sidebar, KOS Studio automatically organizes and groups all active windows by their parent process. Any tool that belongs to a specific running image will be nested directly underneath that image’s name. This grouping makes it easy to identify exactly which windows belong to which image, bringing a specific image’s window to the front, or close unnecessary connection tools tied to that image session.
To see a comprehensive overview of active windows in KOS Studio, open the Windows Management tool via Tools → Windows Management. This manager provides an organized, real-time view of every open KOS Studio window, even if these windows are scattered across different monitors or hidden behind other applications.
The interface is divided into a clean, two-panel layout to help quickly identify and locate windows:
- The Left Sidebar: This panel displays a structured, text-based list of all active windows. For easy navigation, they are grouped logically by core KOS Studio Windows and specific Image Windows (along with any sub-connection tools opened for that image).
- The Right Workspace Map: This panel displays a scaled-down, real-time visual map of your entire physical monitor setup. It shows exactly which window is sitting on which monitor and mirrors their positional layout on the monitors.
Launch the Windows Manager at any time during the session by following these quick steps:
- Log in to KOS Studio.
- Select Tools from the top navigation bar and choose Windows Management.
- The management window will instantly appear on the screen, displaying a visual representation of KOS Studio’s windows, and control options to move, close, minimize, or overlay active windows.
The Windows Management tool is a built-in utility in KOS Studio designed to help users view, organize, and manage all currently open application windows, even when working across multiple physical monitors. From this single, centralized manager, users can quickly locate any open window and perform actions such as moving, closing, minimizing, maximizing, or overlaying them. To access this feature, launch KOS Studio, click on Tools in the top navigation bar, and select Windows Management.
